Horsemasters

Why should the kids have all the fun?  Well, here’s a program for the adults, too.

The USPC Horsemasters Program is designed to teach interested adults about Pony Club and develop valuable voluneers.   All adults are welcome, whether or not they have prior equine experience.  The USPC Horsemasters Program for Adult Volunteers was developed to meet the needs of Pony Club parents and other adults to learn more about horses, to feel comfortable around the animals and secure in their knowledge about horsemanship and riding skills, thereby becoming more empowered volunteers to USPC.

Our Horsemasters group is new, formed in December 2009.  It’s affiliated with Cream Ridge Pony Club and it meets twice a month as follows:

Horsey Hour: Mounted instruction is offered once a month and alternates between Saturdays after 4 pm and Sundays after 2 pm at Silver Dollar Stables.

Happy Hour: Unmounted instruction is held once a month on alternating Friday and Saturday evenings.

To give you a feel for what we do, here are the topics of some of our Happy Hour meetings:

  • A visit to Stitching Horse tack shop in March to hear about show clothing fit and new spring items.
  • A physical therapist with riding experience to talk about stretches and exercises geared for strengthening riding muscles.
  • Learn about proper saddle fit.
  • Trailering 101
